Default Unable to launch java application

Hi!

Trying to install the free limeWire version on MacOs 9.1 and keep getting the message:
Unable to launch java application
unable to locate the application "main" class. the class "com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main" must be public and have a public static void main (String[])" method. (LAX)
I donīt know what`s the prblem cause Java is installed.

so I click on "details" and get this:

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main
at com.zerog.lax.LAX.launch(Compiled Code)
at com.zerog.lax.LAX.main(Unknown Source)
at com.apple.mrj.JManager.JMStaticMethodDispatcher.ru n(JMAWTContextImpl.java)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java)

anybody who has a clue what to do?

ronk

The main download version for Mac Classic was rolled back to 2.9.10 so you don't need to go to the special directory to download it.

Thanks

in OS 9 try deleting the limewire prefs folder too (use sherlock to find it--I recall it being in either the extensions or preferences folder).

Default tried to uninstall eveything, even prefs-didn't work

I don't understand why there is no official word on this here. I had a problem for months since I left 2.6.

Official word is not consistent here. The developers are spending most of their time building effective code. Support can be very expensive, so fellow users like ourselves try to help each other out.

Can you be more specific about your problem, like if the error message says exactly the same as Ronka's and which OS version, machine, and LW you are using?

2.9.11 works for many, so we need to track down why it doesn't for you. I'd suspect a memory problem, an extension conflict, or maybe a java version.

Default Java-I got it to work

Well, the step I didn't follow before was to re-download it, because I figured I had the original version. This time I did re-download. I also first installed it in German, which worked. Then I uninstalled that and installed it in English. I think maybe re-downloading made the difference. All Is well.
I am running 9.2.2. Java MRJ 2.5.5.

I saw a note that Fax STF is incompatible with Java so I disabled, but I don't think that was it.

I have 500 or so ram and 300 mb on my main drive left.

Thanks!

Ah! Glad it's working. I've read allocating 64 megs to LW is best. What do you give it? Cheers
MRJ 2.5.5?
