Error Type -39 ?????????

I have downloaded LW Pro 3.4.1 beta twice and each time I try to install it, I immediately get " Error Type -39 " response from my installer or from the computer.

I have been installing LW for several years now and never had any problems before. I always find all files with LW and even the one in the Prefs folder that has to do with LW and trash them before I try the install. My last LW Pro 3.3.5 installed OK.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, John

Might be a problem with the installer. Just wait a week or so for the next version, that could fix it.

Thanks, Blackbird for the reply. That's kind of what I thought because I have never had any problems with installers before.

No Such File????????

I went to Version Tracker and found the download, but when I tried to download it, the new screen said " No such file".

I even went to the Developers Site and when I clicked on the hot link to download it, I also got "No such file". Weard things are happening.??

I will just wait until the LW team come out with the next update. That will not be much longer.

Hi JPM
I just tried the LimeWireMacNoVM.bin and it worked OK from my Pro page.

In case you are still waiting for a clean download . . .

-39 errors for OS 9 , says Google (e.g. http://www.ragesw.com/techsupport.php), are usually because of corrupted downloads.

The solution then is to delete the old download and try again (I usually clear my Safari or Internet Explorer cache first to make sure the download comes from the original source, not the cache).

Cheers

MESSAGE TO STEIF

I suppose you could be correct on that -39 issue. I too, am not pro, JUST a reader of what I find on various subjects.

I've got 3 - 4 different error number definitions.

They all say much the same thing. I've I didn't
do the research and publich the app. - then who's to say who is factful or otherwise.

The only reason I get onto this forum is one of two reasons. Either to enlist someone else's expertise or share mine.

Best regards to a fellow canuck

hi graphica--glad to see you helping too.

You're right about the -39 = unexpected end of file, which is often caused by corrupted downloads especially on modem connections. btw, I still find "Apple Error Codes '98" a useful little app for checking error codes, and like you keep it in my OS 9 Utilities folder.

Enjoy the heat wave. We'll be freezing soon enough.
