Error type2

Whenever I click LW icon, I get this message.
"The application "LimeWire" has unexpectedly quit,
because an error of type 2 occurred."
I can install , run LW with all extension off. ( restart + Shift key)
That's weird and of course the application doesn't work without extensions.

LW v3.5.8
I'm running with 9.2.2/MRJ 2.2.6

type 2 means you ran out of memory--give LW at least 68 megs (or more).

Error again

Stief,
Thank you very much for your advice.
I gave LW 70 megs and put away some fishy extensions
(eq: ATM, RAM Doubler 9) but still I got same message.

stief September 29th, 2003 05:24 AM

Hi Ton. If you removed ram doubler, would you look at your memory control panel and make sure virtual memory is also on? (Ram Doubler 9 is the equivalent, and turns Apple's virtual memory off). Give that a try first. ATM shouldn't interfere, but does use a lot of memory.

A few other steps you can try:
find the Apple Applet Runner in the MRJ 2.2.6 folder, and give that 70 megs too. (let me know if this works--the Applet Runner is supposed has been recommended in the past, but . . . )

Next, would you take a look at what Apple says about MRJ 2.2.6. It's usually not recommended You can reinstall Java with MRJ 2.2.5 from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097

Dead end

Hi stief,
Thanks again!
I did everything you said but it remains the same result.
Maybe, I should give up LW until I get OSX.

stief September 29th, 2003 11:11 AM

hi ton--LW can work well with OS 9, so there's a problem on your machine. Besides, OS 10.3 is coming.

If you want to keep trying, post what machine are you using and how much physical memory is installed (Apple Menu->About this Macintosh). Maybe someone will know more and can offer an answer.

Sorry I couldn't help more (I'm usually booted in OSX)--LimeDude has good suggestions for using OS 9--you can search for his posts and see if any look like they might help.

Try this. Go under the Apple menu and come down to Control Panels then go to Extensions Manager and where it says "Selected Set" Go under the pull down menu and try "Mac OS 9.2.2 Base" first and restart and then see if LimeWire works. If not try Mac OS 9.2.2 All. I hope that helps. Let me know if it works.
