Limewire will not connect/ company denies purchase Hi, I was wondering if you can help me as this is my last attempt with Limewire. A week ago I bought the Pro version of Limewire. I've was using the free version but it became "buggy" and stopped working. I believe I downloaded version 3.8 (??), I have a Mac G3, OS 9.2.2 and a fast DSL internet connection. I've spent 10 + hours in Limewire forums to no avail, trying to fix the Pro version you sent me which wouldn't connect. I emailed Limewire and they replied with this :Cozi, To receive support, please provide the email address you used to purchase LimeWire Pro. Your email address is not in our database, and we do not support the freeware version. Thanks, Zenzele For some reason I've paid for it but they won't include me in their database and the next emails I sent to support have gone unanswered. I find it hard to believe that any reputable company would: a)- sell an inferior/ unuseable product with no refund b) -have terrible customer support/ service I love for you to restore my faith in what I believed at 1 time to be a great product, but honestly I really can't see that happening. sincerily Cozibooboo |
If you need your faith restored, I can recommend a good priest or pastor ;) Pardon the interruption, but the thread title seems misleading, so here's some more info. btw, don't be surprised at sporadic Pro support (I agree), but when I consider that Level 2 tech help is likely to run @ more than, what, 40$/ hr?--I don't expect much and still hope LW will put its money into development which is currently far more important and impressive. I've always had much better support here on the forums: the other posters know a great deal and are quite willing to work through complex problems . . . and even the devs post and help out when they can. Thinking of Pro as a donation is much more satisfying, IMHO. Anyway--would you clarify 'buggy? (maybe some of us can help). By now you know that java on Mac is severly limited, and that LW (like Apple and Adobe) would like to drop support for Classic Macs. Still, they are trying to make the old java work with gnutella. I just read here that verdyp (a very expert volunteer) might have found a way to get even Apple's old java working better. Cheers. |
Go to limewire.com & download the latest version 4.0.4. Increase its preferred memory 300%. Rebuild your desktop. You will then be able to connect. Regarding your buggy free version, increase the preferred memory 300%. |
Thanks for the help but LW still won't accept my email address to upgrade to the newer version. The other link "fill out this form" also refuses to work. I wish someone from LW would explain the reason for this. thanks anyways. Cozi |
