Two things I can think of: 1. Turn on all the QT plugins using the MIME settings in QT's prefs.
2. The format of the file is a new mp3/m4a format. Keep in mind there's new formats coming out & OS9 is static, there's no more updates for most OS9 apps or OS. My recommendation would be to get a hold of Audion, the latest version for OS9 is version 3 which gives full support to Ogg Vorbis & MP3 Pro, both of which are not recognised by the apps you mentioned. Audion also supports WMA, WAV, SID, MPEG (Shrike), mp3 - pmlame & Aiff.
