Can't connect with LimWire Pro 4.02 on Mac OS 9.2

I am using LimWire Pro 4.02 on Mac OS 9.2, the latest version of Classic Mac. But suddenly I could not connect with the network and cannot connect even now. I have MRJ 2.2.6 in my OS, and I work LimeWire Pro with the memory of 7048k. I wanted to uninstall, but then again I cannot find any information on how to uninstall LimeWire Pro. Could anybody please help me uninstall my LimeWire Pro or make it connect with Gnutella network. Thank you for your time. I will be waiting for the answers.

I presume you still have the installer right? To uninstall, go to the LW program folder & you'll find a folder called UninstallerData. Within that folder is a program called Uninstall LimeWire. I also have 4.0.2 Pro Classic.

But before doing that, try deleting your LW preferences whilst LW is CLOSED. Go to the preferences folder & show it in list mode. You will find .limewire at the top of the list. Put it in the trash. Then try opening LW again & see if it's able to connect after loading & settling down.

I have to say, I actually had better luck connecting with 4.0.8 than 4.0.2 Pro. I don't know why but that's the way it was for me. Since then, LW did bring out a couple of updates about a year ago, I think you can now get 4.0.10 Oh just checking, I did install it & it connected just as well as 4.0.8

But if you need help with connection issues, you'd need to tell us more information about what type of connection devices you use (brand & models), any firewalls, etc.

BTW I found it easier to connect after setting LW for manual connect. ie: LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Connections & untick option & press apply. I found it seemed to connect easier if I opened LW, left it to load all incompletes & shared files, & then go to the menu bar, File>Connect.

Re: Can't connect with LimWire Pro 4.02 on Mac OS 9.2

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it very much. I deleted some files in Mac OS preference folder that you mentioned. seems like I could uninstall LimeWire and could re-install by LimeWire Installer, and the process made LimeWire connect with its network. And so far it works much faster and more comfortable than the one I used to install. I don't know why the problem I posted before happened, but once LimeWire software asked it cannot find the folder for downloading, where the downloaded files are saved. And I had 2 folders for downloading then. Maybe that kind of tampering files in my system folder could be the problem that prevent LimeWire from connecting the network. I will refer to your message when it happens again. Thank you for your message and time.

I did forget to mention once you delete the .limewire folder, you'll need to reset your options. But that's not a major issue. If it helps LW then it's certainly something worth trying. It can get rid of any corrupt settings, etc. & give it a fresh breath of life sometimes.
