unstuffing .sit's why is it whenever i download .sit files my computer refers to them as 'limewire' files, and whenever i try unstuffing them it just re-opens limewire. |
.sit complaint To me the ones that do not unstuff must be windows only or broke. |
that cant be it blister I have downloaded mac os updates and it does this...no pc user would have that. |
Any solution with .sit's??? I'm having the same problem, what is wrong????, i was very excited 'cause i finally could download a software, and at the next morning.... AHHHHH!, couldn't open it"!!!!, what the..·$"!·$=(!*^¨.. anyway, any solutions for this problem??? |
unstuffing Why are we all having the same problem???? Why are there no answers out there?? Limewire people should supply some basic answers to this common problem. the stuff is useless when one doesn't have the key to open the files. I would be happy to find out what to do since I am also tired of downloading useless crapp. |
Unstuffing sit´s with the mac the files are (under classic) releted to a creator/filetype pair. If you drag your .sit file that you downloaded through limewire onto the stuffit expander icon - then everything should worout perfect! Aloha |
Well yes, that is the first step. Opening the DMG files is another thing. I read they have blank creator and file types. So I erased the ???? etc. in the windows. Saved the file and still can't mount the dmg. I tried mounting it in toast, tried open with drop dmg and all the other apps I can think of- still not possible. What gives? |
Hello! Some SIT archives refuses to unstuff when situated in LW Shared Directory. The solution is to drag the file to the desktop and then drop it onto the Stuffit Expander Alias. If that fails then try to open up Stuffit first and then trough File>Expand browse to the file and click choose and it should work.Atleast if you are using the latest version of Stuffit Expander which is included in the free Stuffit Lite 6.5.1 package avilable here http://www.stuffit.com If it turns out to be a .dmg(short for Disk ImaGe) file then you cannot open those up in Classical Mac OS those are Disk Images for Mac OS X and need to have a Mac OS X system active to open up.But since those are generally Mac OS X apps you have no need for them anyway so it does not mather. In Classical Mac OS disk Images are called .img as in Image. You could always try a little hack and add the .img extension to the file and see if that will help but I doubt it.But as I said they are probably Mac OS X apps not usable on Classical Mac OS. |
sit files do ya all have unstuffit. if ya don't get it that will work www.tucows.com the go to mac and get ti:) |
