are old versions available

OS 10.5.8 tiger
I have been running a previous version of LimeWire and upgraded to version 5.3.6 without realising that it is not compatible with my OS.
As I had dumped my old version I have tried to upload it from LimeWire but can not find it as a download. Can anyone point me in the right direction

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/mac-os...ck-lw-4-a.html :) BTW Snow Leopard OSX 10.6 has 32 bit java so would be able to use LW 5 on that later OSX version. As per normal Apple never give upgrades of Java to the earlier OSX's. sighs

i too used to have the older LW on my pc but when i had it serviced a few years ago, the tech recommended getting rid of it and totally removed it from the pc. the version i had, i have no idea what version# it was, and IIRC, i paid a small fee to have a lifetime membership, but now i cant find any trace of the LW that i paid for way back then and cant seem to be able to find any information as to how i can re-enable my old subscription...apparently only "Pro" versions are qualified for customer service help these days?

Sounds as though you were scammed.

The only official site for download of LW basic (free) or Pro is Official Website & Free Download - Lime Wire

The official site hasn't ever offered 'lifetime membership'.
Email support from that site has only ever been available to Pro users who bought from the official site & whose benefits are current (ie still within the 6 or 12 month period, depending on whether they paid for 6 or 12 months worth of Pro).

Basic users can get support here.

the "lifetime" membership i'm talkiing about was Way back around 2003?!
probably about the time LW had just started.

As Birdy said. Notice the word "ever".

"Lifetime membership" is only what scam sites offer.

Being ripped off

JKat

Unfortunately, you are not the first novice to be ripped off by Internet scammers and you won't be the last (that 'lifetime membership' scam never seems to get old).

All you can do now is put this "bitter taste" down to experience, just remember to do some research before making Internet purchases.

Hopefully, you can reveal the URL of the website that ripped you off, this would help other novices from making the same mistake.
