Mp3 rage = no share?

Is it true that MP3 Rage cannot share files?

If so, then why is it listed in gnutelliums?

Does anyone have information about what user-agent it sets for downloads so we can block it?

Yes, it's true.

It's no longer listed.

are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we there yet? are we...

What's their user-agent? I don't have a Macintosh handy...

If someone could set up a test with BearShare on one box and MP3 rage on another (actually thats the ONLY way!) and then have MP3 rage download a file from BearShare, what shows up in the "Server" column?

I have a sneaking suspicion they are masquerading as another servent, since I have never gotten reports of MP3 rage in anyone's web logs.

I'm a registered MP3 Rage user, and I've pointed out this drawback to the developers. I was told that adding a sharing option was under consideration. (This was prior to the release of the current version.)

Does anybody know if the developers check this forum? Would it be okay if I draw their attention to the fact that they have been de-listed here because of the no-share "feature"?

I have to say that in other respects I like this software a lot, especially in that it enables you to access both Gnutella and napster-compatible networks.

They know

I already told them a number of times, back when MP3 rage was originally released.

If you have this program, would you please perform a test and find out what the user-agent is? This will tell us about their motivations.

If they show BearShare or LimeWire as a user agent, then it is obvious they do not care about the network at all, and intentionally put out a product which cannot share.

If they show MP3 Rage, then they are probably somewhat honest.

If they show Gnutella, then its a gray area.

I e-mailed the developers about it several times a few months ago and they never replied.

I don't know if they check this forum.

I emailed them also (how their user agent is identified), but I fear they will not answer too.

Greetings....

Vinnie -- I'll be glad to perform a test of MP3. What should I do?

CycloCide -- I emailed the developers, Chaotic Software, a link to this page, along with a capsule summary of the discussion. So they are aware of the situation.
