Firewall gone berzerk I'm using a Mac running OSX 10.2 with Norton Personal Firewall 2. The problem I've had since I started using Acquistion 0.82 is that even when I'm not using it I get around 10 hits from the Gnutella network every second. My hard drive has litterally gone berzerk as a result of all the logging it has to do and annoyingly makes a repetitive lurching sound every second which is driving me round the bend! I'm sure that if I could somehow remove my IP address from the Gnutella cache then this problem would be cured and my hard drive could finally rest. I have no idea how I can do this though. At the moment I am simply having to switch off my modem during the time I'm not using the internet. That shuts it up! I used to use Limewire in OS9.2 and got a few hits (about 20 a day) on my firewall from the Gnutella network when I wasn't using the program and that was not a problem. |
