Default cannot open mp3 files

After I have downloaded an MP3 file, I cannot open it. It shows a picture of a document with a folded corner. Who can help me?

Wish I could answer that for you, the same thing happens here. What I do is to check what the icons look like in my downloads folder and when I see a "
generic" icon of the white document, I end the transfer and find another one. It happens occasionally, but not so often that I am ready to scrap Mactella.

Wish I could help more...

Default MP3 downloads

Running Mac OS 8.6,Cable connection and LW v1.6b.Previously LW downloaded MP3 files routinely, both 1.6b and the earlier version. Now Mp3 files download as a Limewire document. Will this problem be resolved or are we to devise ways to work around this,if possible?

MP3 files are almost impossible now. They arrive as a limewire document and can be listened to with Winamp. But downloading for any other purpose is almost useless. Need an answer here. Thanks

Thumbs down

Same problem here. I cannot open LimeWire files neither translate them with MacLink Plus or Itunes.

Plus the downlaods are so much slower tnat with Napster.

Have y'all tried using iTunes Associator? It should convert any mp3 to an iTunes file. Just drag and drop.

Click and highlight the music title under the document icon.Immediately after the title add .MP3
Click on it and it will convert to a LimeWire MP3 file.

Thank you, that does the trick! I typed .mp3 and all of a sudden it turned into a quicktime file. Amazing!
