Can I connect to gnutella if I am using the Starband satellite connection?

I'm on Starband too and I'm unable to connect using limewire at all. However, a third party site claims to have a morpheus client that will work on Starband. I haven't gotten it yet because they want a membership fee, however, if they have a client that will work, wouldn't that indicate gnutella isn't being blocked? and then wouldn't limewire work?

I don't know if it will work, but try downloading a gnutella.net file here:
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=11123 Copy it into your LimeWire directory and tell me, if you can connect, for if you can, Starband only blocked the host caches... |

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the LimeWire directory? And when I download the file, I get only a series of numbers. How can I do something useful with it? Please bear with me.

The numbers are ip addresses of LimeWire Ultrapeers. LimeWire uses this file to store known hosts.
I don't know where you installed LimeWire. My LimeWire directory is /home/greg/LimeWire for example. On windows systems, it should be something like c:\program files\LimeWire. |
