Gnutelle not connecting

I must admit, I do not use Morpheus much for downloading anymore.....there just isn't enough people using it to get authentic results anymore. I am, however, attached to Morpheus for storing my files. I can't use anything else to listen or watch my videos.
For a couple of weeks now, though, the Gnutella network has not been initiating. Is this a known problem? Am I the only person this is happening to?

Are you sure the gnutella network is enabled in preferences? Try disabling, press apply and OK. Then go back and enable and press apply and OK buttons again.

I had not used Morpheus in quite a while. But I found it did connect to the Gnutella network, be it slowly. Initially with one host after 2 to 3 minutes then slowly climbed up over time. The next time I started Morpheus, it took about 30 seconds or so to connect to the Gnutella network.

I have both G1 and G2 networks set to automatic, no force connect as either ultrapeer or leaf.

At the bottom of File_Girl's post is a host file patch http://www.gnutellaforums.com/342014-post1.html which may or may not help.

If further problems, I will send you my connection files.

Thank you for the reply. I will try the suggestions you gave, and will let you know the results either way.

DoobieSister you need fresh cache files for Morpheus to connect to Gnutella, and you will find fresh one here in this post http://www.gnutellaforums.com/morphe...able-here.html Agree there is just few Morpheus users left on the network, but I still get good files when I search with Morpheus!;) I think the main reason users do not use Morpheus longer is that the Chat room on "morpheus.com" is closed on IRC Chat...

Trying to download now onto new computer. Have Morpheus Ultra 5.2.3 1027.rar (not my preferred version) I downloaded 7 zip to open it, but I am stuck. Cannot figure out what to do now.

DoobieSister February 27th, 2012 11:55 AM

I think I got it going.

Lord of the Rings February 27th, 2012 12:31 PM

WTG glad to hear. File_Girl71 is more of a Morpheus person than I am so if you have problems she would be best one to ask. :)

Which is your preferred version of Morpheus may I ask?

Edit: If it's needed, fresh Morpheus connection cache is the 'fixes' here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/morphe...tml#post359839 which File_Girl updated recently.

DoobieSister February 28th, 2012 04:00 AM

I like an older version....I think it was 5.1.3
This one is fine, though, it's more about the look to me, but I was able to change the skin to make it look just like the version I had before.

Everything is great with the download. Getting good results on searches, downloads are good. The only thing I miss is the tool tips, it doesn't want to work at all. Is this a known issue? The Bitzi look up thing was never really helpful, but the tool tips helped me to get more info.

Ok, twice since I downloaded this Morpheus version, I am being alerted that the Morpheus file has been detected as having a virus threat attached to it. Can anyone elaborate?

File_Girl71 March 14th, 2012 04:21 PM

Hey DoobieSister, sorry for not be able to post any replay to your question about Morpheus...Morpheus Ultra 5.2.3.1027 does not have any virus attached to it, but you can use your preferred Morpheus 5.3.0.1042 version and its updated today, you can download it direct from here: Morpheus 5.3.0.1042.rar Hope this helps, and enjoy!

DoobieSister March 14th, 2012 04:50 PM

here is what just now came in a threat detected box when I opened Morpheus:
fischaleck.net/cache.phpget=1&net=gnutella&client=MRPH&version=1. 1.1.4

Thanks, filegirl, you have helped me more than once with this. Nice to have someone to help.

File_Girl71 March 14th, 2012 04:53 PM

What antivirus software do you use?

DoobieSister March 14th, 2012 08:24 PM

AVG & Microsoft Security....not really sure which one detected it, I think AVG. It just happened again, and it was, in fact, the moment gnutella connected. I had opened Morpheus and did a search, but noticed Gnutella had still not connected. Disconnected Morpheus and re-connected and once G connected, BOOM!

File_Girl71 March 15th, 2012 12:20 AM

I know 100% AVG is your problem here DoobieSister and not Morpheus! You see AVG is bad to use with P2P software because AVG treat all P2P software as they are viruses...Change antivirus software from AVG to Avast which is good and free antivirus software with built in P2P shield works really good with Morpheus, just google avast free and you choose the first search hit on google and download and install it after you remove AVG...Hope this helps!

DoobieSister March 15th, 2012 06:39 AM

Fantastic! Will do it!

DoobieSister March 15th, 2012 12:57 PM

Well......even Avast is alerting on Morph when I open it. Looks like I just got unlucky and picked a bad file. Will have to get another download.

File_Girl71 March 16th, 2012 04:12 PM

Well you have picked a bad file as you say! I have made a filter which filter out search result from Morpheus, and I have tested it and works very well on Morpheus so you get clean search and will not download bad files...I will add the filter for Morpheus and Morpheus Ultra soon as I can!!!
