Limewire should intergrate with system antivirus because some jerkoffs have nothing better to do but spread viruses thank god for McAfee

filter out .vbs files and dont download .exe, .doc files and you should be fine. Also check out Jason Levine's excellent program Script Sentry. www.jasons-toolbox.com

I can't even run LimeWire with Norton Anti-Virus running...

So far, I'm only downloading music. Maybe I'm safe?:p

As far as I know, there aren't any MP3 viruses out yet.

MP3 virus

Check out this article. You'd be smart to stick with Winamp or another MP3 player besides MS Media Player or Real Player.

http://www.newsbytes.com/news/02/174747.html

"<i>A quirk in media players from Microsoft and RealNetworks could enable attackers to hijack Web browsers and run scripts on the computers of some MP3 music fans.

The trick has apparently been discovered by pornography sites and spammers, which have been seeding some music file trading services with bogus MP3 music files.

One such MP3 file, ostensibly containing the music of the Los Angeles-based rock group Lifehouse, launched a pornographic video and generated a "massive" amount of pop-up ads when played back on the Windows Media Player from Microsoft, according to one newsgroup report.</i>"

Best possible antivirus software there is

The best possible anti-virus software there exists is a decent operating system.

I haven't purchased anti-virus software in over five years, and I haven't had a virus in over five years.

I recommend an upgrade from your McAfee to Linux.

I haven't had a virus in the last ten years, and I'm running Win & NAV.
It scans any executable file when opened/executed, so it should be reasonable safe if your virus definitions are current (in my case I automatically update them once a day).
I don't see a need for a virus check in LW unless you don't trust your current antivirus software, and if so, you should seriously consider upgrading to a better antivirus solution.

You can also download .exe files without a scanner running, important is only that you scan them before you open them! :)
