It can easily hold several thousand IP addresses. But I would suggest you use subnet masks instead.

Is Limewire capable of handling subnet masks in blocked hosts? I thought that was not the case yet. What is the syntax to use?

I'm not sure what LimeWire uses - but assuming it adheres to any standard, blocking:

192.0.0.0

would block *all* 192 address.

Zero should indicate the entire range of addresses from 1-255.

I don't know if the 2.4.4 already supports it, in the cvs-code it's either 192.*.*.* or 192.0.0.0/255.0.0.0. It doesn't support simplified 192.0.0.0/8 yet, but that may change since I have already seen someone request it.

Nope. Didn't work :-(

Next release

The next major release of LimeWire will have the ability to block addresses like 192.*.*.* or 192.168.0.0/255.0.0.0. In addition, there is a "whitelist" feature to selectively enable addresses like 192.168.1.2. This is nice for creating private networks, among other things.

The code has been on the limewire.org CVS trunk for some time now if you'd like to try it out. Be aware, however, that the CVS trunk is quite buggy at the moment because of other code changes; you'll definitely be on the bleeding edge.

Thanks again to Gregorio Roper for submitting the filter patch.
