Newer version vs Older version

I miss the stats on the search screen that give me an idea how many files etc, are available without having another window open!

Let's have the stats back on the screen in the search window!

Sure the newer version has better download speed, but it's a little too smart. Unfortunately the files are only grouped by name, even though there may be many different file sizes available.

Don't blame an unplayable AVI on the missing codec, because it's probably the fact that it is downloading from different locations with different file sizes.

Or when Limewire automatically continues a download after doing a fresh search. Does it really work? Why can't I turn that feature off?

Let's have groupings with different file names and different sizes!

If I un-group the files and select just the same size files and click download, it tries only the first one, and then I get a message on the screen telling me I am already downloading that named file, for each selected.

Why can it work for the group, but not work for the files that I manually selected.

Those files are only grouped in the search results. LimeWire only swarms from files, if size AND name are the same.

Why would you?

Well, - then don't do that. If you download one of those files, LimeWire will try the other locations automatically on some point. - Or even better, - keep those files grouped.

There is a different algorithm for starting the download of grouped results and results that aren't grouped.

Not exactly, they sometimes differ - maybe 1-2 KByte...

No, the size has to be exactly the same (not even one byte difference) or LimeWire will not swarm from this host. - Results may be grouped although their file sizes differ by up to 60kbytes, but LimeWire will not swarm from them.

Ah, good to know. thx
But I already had MP3 files which changed volume 1 or 2 times - I assume that's where the parts were put together.
But I guess file hashing is in the works... :-)
