Ye Olde feature revived! Please!!!

Can I please beg the Limewire developers for something that would help many many dial-up users?
Could you please add an option to turn off the requerying of results or something like that? I ask this because if your internet connection drops out half way through a download, it tries to "requery" the results which is great in theory but when the connection to the ISP is re-established - you cant "force resume" to get your download moving again.

I'm not sure what objection you have to requery - it isn't stopping you do anything.

If you drop a connection you need to find a host to resume the download from. The best way to do this is to manually search for the file that you want to resume. If the search finds an available host then the file will resume downloading.

LimeWire will automatically look for a new host for incomplete downloads - but it does this fairly infrequently.

'Force Resume' doesn't do what you think it does. It only works when you are trying to connect to a busy host - it tries to connect immediately rather than waiting for the one minute countdown. It does not force a download to resume.

The next version of Limewire will also include a new "Resume" button, for use in the "Incomplete" files section of the Library. IT will create a background search to receover incomplete downloads after LimeWire has been shutdown, by searching for new hosts that could share the missing part of the incomplete file. When such hosts are found, the download will resume automatically, and when the file is complete it will be moved normally to your default Library folder for downloaded files.

So this means that LW will not completely shut down whenever you have incomplete downloads??? Is the background process an option?.... or will we need to kill the incomplete download before shutdown to ensure the background process doesn't run.

Nope -- the search will actually work just like any other search. The nice new thing is that you _can_ re-complete incomplete downloads. I think the word 'background' was meant in terms of allowing you to resume multiple incompleted searchs at once. Once you shut down LimeWire, all stuff will definitely stop though.
