detect invalid MP3 ID3v2 tags It's been a month since the discovery of a bug (in both the WinXP desktop-shell and WinAmp) wherein MP3 files can sport buffer-busting code in the ID3 tag. I know that LW already detects "invalid" downloads somehow -- does this include MP3s with invalid ID3 tags? This would be a built-in way to block the spread of infected files! |
I don't think there are enough 'infected' files to justify the amount of work that would be necessary to do that. - Besides there are enough programs out there that will play those mp3 files flawlessly and without security risk. |
So, is my idea unrelated to what LW already does when it reports "invalid file" and cancels a download? |
