Go to java.com and download the newest version of Java. It'll enable scroll-wheel support in LimeWire.

Hi,

I tried to do this (I've got Java SE v1.4.2_04) but it still won't scroll

Yes it should work with Java 1.4; you probably downloaded a newer Java, but your installation of Limewire still uses anothe rversion of the JRE.

To make sure that the new JRE is now the default one, open the Java control panel and indicate your default (this default version will be stored in the registry settings for Java.)

You can check that it works by using the demo applets with "Java Web Start", notably the SwingSet2App:
The first panel (Internal Frames Demo) that displays an image of a smiling moon should scroll with the mouse wheel in "Frame4"
Then click on the "Text" icon that opens a "JEditorPaneHTML Demo" pane: the first page of the "Micrographia" book should scroll with the mouse wheel.
Same thing for the "List Demo", the "Scroll Pane Demo", the "Table Demo", the "Tree Demo" (expand some branches in the tree by clicking on the toggle icon at the begining of some rows...
Same thing for the "Source" tab in each of the demos.

If this does not work, then you don't have fully compatible mouse driver for your system. Try using a newer version of the mouse driver, or using the default drivers bundled with your OS for your mouse.

Note that some mouse tools change the default behavior of the mouse wheel to perform other tasks, such as emulating a third button. Normally, just returning to the default actions for your mouse wheel should restore the scrolling action.

Will it work with the scroll thingy on a laptop mousepad?
