adjust search criteria for japanese/chinese

currently searches must be 3 characters or more long to be accepted. that is fine in english, but it doesnt work in japanese/chinese.

in japanese/chinese a single chinese character can represent a word (i.e. "book" is represented in one word). most words, 90% or more, are represented with one or two characters.

by forcing people to use three characters or more--regardless of the language--you are basically making keyword searches in japanese/chinese languages if not impossible, then at least making them much less effective.

any way to rectify this?

another problem, which is discussed somewhat in other threads, is that when searching in japanese, if it cannnot find any matches, it seems to just throw random files up in the search. i perform an all japanese search and get complete irrelevant, all english results.

i dont know why this happens, and i am sure that there is a reason and i am sure that you are aware of it, but really the search capabilities for japanese/chinese are practically useless at this stage.

in previous version some searches could be conducted with just 2 characters, but now everything requires at least 3.
