Limewire 4.0.6 Breaks Magnet Links

I have been using LimeWire Pro (version 4.0.6 for Windows XP) and recently noticed that it breaks when using the new Bitzi magnet links created with Bitzi's BitCollider 0.6.0 (the latest version of BitCollider; see http://bitzi.com), probably because these magnet links support Kazaa's KZHASH identifier. Every time I try a magnet link from Bitzi I get the following error message from Limewire Pro:

"Cannot Process Bad MAGNET Link"

As a test I used the latest version of BitCollider to create a bitprint for the 14.2 MB Quicktime movie called "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban trailer.mov" that is on the Gnutella network. There are a number of sources for it, as you can tell by searching by name alone; downloading starts immediately when I search by name and start the download manually (it's a good test file with plenty of sources). BitCollider created the following magnet URI for this movie:

magnet:?xt=urn:sha1:56DPZGKW2NFAYCT6CAEAE3RFIVXLW7 VL&xt=urn:kzhash:b7a9638559c44123cb82821faf10f2809 abc71a04c13844a2a8aa5c20f09cb68044e1e06&dn=Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban trailer.mov

And then BitCollider registered this movie at Bizi.com, which you can look up at:

http://bitzi.com/lookup/56DPZGKW2NFA...L?ref=limewire

No matter how I try to load this magnet link in Limewire Pro it fails, just like all other Bitzi magnet links, which I imagine is the result of the "&xt=urn:kzhash:" being in the link. If I remove the Kazaa info Limewire doesn't give me an error message but it still won't start downloading it immediately -- I have to click on the file in my download area and choose "Get More Sources" a few times before it starts to download. Here's the modified magnet (I removed part of the long file name as well to shorten the URI):

magnet:?xt=urn:sha1:56DPZGKW2NFAYCT6CAEAE3RFIVXLW7 VL&dn=Azkaban.mov

Shouldn't Limewire just ignore the Kazaa specific info (i.e., "&xt=urn:kzhash:") instead of preventing the link from working? Currently all Bitzi magnets fail as a result, when they would otherwise work if this info was ignored by Limewire. This makes the entire Bitzi catalog useless for Limewire users; I have had to start using Kazaa instead, which I'd prefer not to do!

Could you please update Limewire Pro (the upcoming v4.0.7) to ignore the Kazaa info in magnets, and also have it automatically check for new sources when magnet links are used (downloads don't start automatically -- you currently must click on the file name in the download area and then click the "Get More Sources" button before a magnet link download will actually being).

With thanks for an excellent product,
Aaron

You can use one of my songs for testing purposes.

"Das klein wild Vögelein".
It is a very old folk-Song from Germany. Translated it means "The little wild bird" and is originally about pretty village-daughters, who don't want to come to the castle of their landlord, but you couldn't sing that blatantly in those times.

Its Bitzi Magnet-Link is:

magnet:?xt=urn:sha1:5XVVT24UBEYSCDCGBMWHKOBT2VXJUP DJ&xt=urn:kzhash:847cdfc36d11312e56dbe4705e7a2149c af991ed3f54e79ae754fe9d9bc0ce29f1510a2e&dn=voegele in.mp3

Its LimeWire Magnet-Link is:

A german story of mine can also be freely distributed:

Korben, the story of a rather unsuccessful adventurer set in a fantasy world.

Magnet media (copyright free) online

The Bitzi site is back up, and so I've completed the Bitzi magnet links and also LimeWire magnet details as well. The files are now ready for testing LimeWire with magnet links that have Kazaa info in them. Here's the link:

Following is the most of the original post for reference... Aaron

Although I don't know of any copyright free media already on the Gnutella that you can use for testing (even the Harry Potter movie trailer is covered by copyright, as is most other widely distributed content), I have uploaded 3 pieces of media to my personal Web site that you can distribute freely for testing -- I created these media files, and on the "Magnets" page provide a blanket usage statement for you and anyone else who needs to use them:

You can start to distribute the media files for testing if you'd like.

Aaron
