Is anybody reading it?

I've already (at some other thread sometime...) posted a similar proposition: is it possible to make the "Numeber of Views" available for announcements too? I'd sure like to know how many people read the rules (I bet the number would be ridiculously low...) but it seems this option is not enabled for announcements, or at least for the announcement ursula posted: the Rules.

You would have to ask Ursula to actually post the anouncement as a post only then it would get counted.
But I agree, one wanders if it gets read at all seeing a lot of newbie posts.....
Perhaps it is just as with the licence agreements you have to agree with before installing a programme...

Making the rules page a default listing before anything is posted/new thread created 'might' increase the no. slightly. But then, this xtra page might seem a pain for some of us (although you could limit it to those who aren't full members.) But then, with careful programming, a prerequisite of doing a search for a topic before posting a new thread might also have some legitimacy in the same regard. Your thoughts?

I personal like to keep things simple,
I don't think posting barriers on the forum would do a lot of good .
I see more in bringing up a barrier in Limewire before you go to the forum.
After all it's a part of the Limewire newbies that are the problem.
But then again I think it's mainly a attitude problem.
"I have a problem, there's the forum, and there's the post message button"

Funny that you two bring up this subject, You both have been verry helpfull so far.
But as you have noticed you can keep answering the same question every day for ever and ever.
And that can bring some desperation at some point.
Thats why I stopped answering those same questions .
That in itself could be a solution as well..

Well, I just mentioned this mostly out of curiosity you know. I just thought it would be funny to see the numbers which, I'm sure would range from 10 to 50...
You know, nobody pays attention to rules anymore: it's become like the license agreements and/privacy policies that nobody ever reads anymore.
What I think would be good too is to separate the stickies and announcements from normal posts by putting them in an entirely different box, above the normal threads. I've trouble noticing when a new sticky/announcement (not that there's a new one every day or anything...)when a new one is posted. This is just a detail of course.

The rules count concept sounds good. It'd be very interesting to see the results. And even a 'count' for each time a new member had visited that page to be listed on that particular member's record.

If we only answered questions that hadn't been answered before, that would probably mean only about 5% (or less) of threads would get answered. We could all go away & have a holiday.

Sounds great fun, if only I had a horse with wings to get me there. Looks like my holiday already past by. I guess I'll have to wait for the next one.

How do you get murasame's suggestions to be taken up. Or should I ask, who mediates these ideas?

To ad the forum rules as a post you would have to ask Ursula as she's the one who added them, She should be around again soon.
Suggestions regarding the forum should be adressed to CycloCide .
Here's the overview of who does what on here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showgroups.php

BTW, Looks like you have some nice festivals in Aussieland :D
