Auto Force Resume

I would like an automatic 'force resume' feature.

I can set up a large number of files to d/l, then go to bed (seeing my broadband connection maxed out).

When I wake up, not that many files have d/l and I do a (manual) force resume on all the files and my d/l speed goes from a trickle to maxing out my connection in two minutes. If I did do that I would be left with modem d/l speeds.

It would be very useful.

It sounds all great & grand. Actually the earlier versions of LW had this function. The problem was, it was overloading the network. So rather than having each user searching for a no. of searches, instead each one might have 50, 100 or many more files sending out forced resume searches for resources every few mins. The Gnutella network & also T1 connections & their networks would simply become overloaded with search traffic & slow both their & the Gnutella network down to an appalling speed. It's something the LW programmers have considered & decided it will not happen again. On a brighter side, the Gnutella network is (will be) expanding with some other p2p networks. Thus the resources available will make the availability of files so much more widespread for content & no.

In the meantime, if u do a force resume, make sure u do a search for sources of that file as well to ensure resources will be available for that file when u do go to sleep. Forcing resume is not always a very effective method. At least a search will ensure there's multiple resources & not just the 1st one it can locate (if any at all.)

Hi Lord (tugs forelock <g>)

I don't think I explained myself very well, apologies.

I go to bed and I am d/l many different files at the max of my 2Mb ADSL connection (242 KB/s).

In the morning, I am d/l at about 30-50 KB/s. I do a force resume, and within one minute or two, I am d/l at 242 again. Having been in the land of nod, I don't know when the d/l started to drop. I assume that as I don't search for more sources before retiring, all I need is a force resume.

Thanks for your reply.
