Ability to continue old downloads Sometimes, I get the message "Unable to continue old downloads", mostly after electrical shock or sth else that forces the computer to shut down immidiately. Then all the threads to be downloaded go away and I cant continue the progress as it drops to %0. Can it be such a feature to continue old downloads? In such cases, downloads.bak file does not seem to work. For example; a half-downloaded file may be checked and downloads.dat recontructed according to the mark in the half file or sth else? |
I have (luckily) not experienced the problem, so am wondering if using the Library->Incomplete->file(s) you want to restart and 'Resume' would work? |
Resume does not work I think RESUME works for only files that are known how much percent have been downloaded. However in such cases like electrical shock the file where records kept become corrupted. I find out that the back up file (downloads.bak file on the disk which is a back up file (I think) for the records) have become corrupted too. As a result; I had dozens of half downloaded parts, HELP pLS!! |
funny i have found going to the library then clicking on the file and hitting resume works 4 me . often it starts from scratch ( not always ) but its better than losing the file . u using ver4.6 ? |
Yes I am using 4.6.0 pro Normally RESUME has to work, but it does not. Anyway, but know I need a kind of script to reconstruct that record file to be able to save my old ones |

maybe the programmers of limeware could look @ something that updates this file every couple of minutes but i'm pretty sure this would bring the cpu cycles up too much |
I think record files are kept up to date @ every 1 min or less. I have examined the refresh rate @ the file size. So we can assume that , already record files updated very frequently. This uses very little portion of the CPU. I could code the remaining part of the prg only if I would know the such binary hierarchy of that file. However, the programmers of limewire can make such kind program for all users that are faked because of this issue. Not only me. I have met dozens of user seeking for a solution among the forums. This would be very very helpful to us. Thanx |
I could reiterate what everyone else has said, but I noticed the true problem you have and it's not LimeWire. What do you mean you experienced electical shaock. As a person with some computer literacy, if this were really the case you are lucky your computer comes on. If you are having electrical problems, may I suggest a surge protector not bought at Wal-Mart or Odd Lots. Make sure your electical plug in is trully grounded. Avoid setting your computer case on a carpeted floor unless properly grounded. Unplug during Thunderstorms. Unplug means electrically and Modem/DSL/Cable connections unless you are plugged into an Advanced surge protector. |
