Add 2 Genres

Will someone please add two Genres from Caribbean music. Soca and Calypso. It beats me why most audio programs do not include these very popular genres.

ultracross June 30th, 2005 10:46 PM

and on this matter, can we PLEASE add a christian genre?

Oh man this could be an endless request what about us middle aged punks we live and die by genre sub-catagories okay for a start punk 70's uk,punk 70's usa.new wave 70's,new wave 80's,thrash,grindcore,crusty,anarcho,pop punk, ect ect limewires just not big enough best thing to do is just type christian into the search box under albums or title.

tornprincess5 August 1st, 2006 11:33 AM

i like crunk.....christian music just really isnt my thing.....but i dont like pop xountry and **** like that....wait why am i saying what i like....i juss want more genres

terryt August 2nd, 2006 04:54 AM

I apologise for my ignorance but what is crunk? if your downloading stuff say artist x - song one you could always change it in library to artist x - song one [crunk] and then when you want to download some crunk it will come up on the search.
I am guessing christian punk?

Hmm, the way I see things, there should be less genres if anything! It's annoying downloading songs from the same record, and having to change the genre thanks to people quibbling over whether it's punk, punk rock or heavy rock, hell, all albums vary in style a bit from song to song, there (in my view) should be a more limited genre list to account for such discrepancies in user opinion..

*to terryt* crunk is like Ying Yang Twins......and to Ed91.....well some people do like the same album......but in a way your right......take Panic! At the Disco for example......people label them as Emo......which to me is really stupid......you cannot label a song as emo....(emo means emotional for short)....every song is emotional......every song has a story and/or some kind of emotion behind it....love hate sadness etc......but then i juss pissed that some songs that are a different genre than given....are VERY hard to find.....and......I REALLY HATE THOSE DOWNLOADS THAT HAVE BILL CLINTON SAING" my fellow americans....."GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Well, I guess I have to be really old fashioned because I still remember a time when R&B used to mean Rhythm & Blues but now it means anything with a back beat.

I guess then that more genres are not the answer because today things are moving so fast that before you know it your genre has broken down into sub-genres or has just vanished, e.g. I don't hear House anymore.

That's exactly what I think, though I can see why others may want to add very specific genres into their searches. Maybe instead of asking to add to the list within limewire, ask to add the ability to type in your own genre, or the ability within the options list to remove ones you don't want / add ones that you do want into the list? That would help stop someone else from asking the same thing in a couple of months time..

But anyway, from what I can see limewire just searches the genre field like any other, so if you have space to write the genre you're searching for in another field just stick it in, and it should have the same results.

Why stop at audio? How about video, I can think of a whole list of subcategories. The mind boggles. Just start with Adult and work your way down:D ;).
