Customizable file extention searches

I'd like to add that user specific file extentions be filtered out as well. An example would be *.mov files. I hate them and I have no use for them.

Plus, If I'm searching for a document, for example, and I'm searching for a *.prc file it won't list any. If I choose All Types, then I get a list of a ton of files that aren't even *.prc. So in Options just be able to add or subtract file extentions to search for and be able to add your own. Not just a list because who knows what kinds of files people want to share or search for specifically.

Or just in the Select Search Type window have either a drop down box of file types you want to search if you want to search for one file type only. Or a an input box to simply type the extention. This would kick ***! http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...ilies/malo.gif Some people like things simple and ready made for them but I like to do it my way! http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...y_Emoticon.png

You can already (so I guess I'm misreading your request).

To share .prc files, add its extension to the list in the Options->Sharing->Shared Extensions (use a semi-colon to separate extenion types)

To block an extension, add it to the Options->Filters->Keywords

or, when the results come in, use the Tpye Filter panel on the Search Tab to just show the .mpg (or whatever) results

I want to filter file extentions, not part of the name with it. Though it works for the most part and I do that already, it would just be nice to not have to filter out part of a possible filename as well.

I know how to share the .prc files, i've done that already.

I just did a search, all file types for PRC and got tons of results though in the Media filter it only shows Audio and Programs, nothing for PRC or documents so that doesn't work very well.

My idea was to just be able to search for a file and filter what extentions the results are. Say I only want to search PDF and PRC or AVI and MPG, or ZIP, RAR and ACE or PDF, AVI and MPG with nothing else. I would find that very useful! :D

I guess I solved my own problem here for the most part. Searching for a document file for example I just type pdf in the name as well and seems to only come up with just the pdf type files but not if you do it in an All Types search. :D

You said you hate *.mov files. So go to keyword filter & add .mov, etc. that you don't want. You can add or remove these anytime. See How to use the Keyword Filter

It sounds like not too many people are sharing PRC files. I've never even seen one so ... lol :D

Yeah I'm not too worried about the prc files. I can convert any document file to a prc file so that's not an issue for me. I was just using that as an example.

One question though, entering .mov vs just mov without the dot will only filter the extention? Cause that would rock!

That's why I emphasised the dot in front of it. Otherwise the mov or other extensions sometimes show up in filenames. So with the dot, it specifies it as an extension. ;) :)

Awesome! Thanks! :)
