v1.7 vs v1.8

Why did you guys decide to omit the bandwith monitor in the bottom left corner. I liked knowing when I was getting a high data connection verses those times when you can't connect to anybody. Please bring that back. I downloaded the 1.8 version and now I wish I didn't.

Seconded

I agree.

The stutus bar at the bottom is a lot less useful now without information about the number of connections, and files currenly available. Now I'm constantly clicking back and forth between Search and Connections just to get an idea of where I'm at.

At least I still have 1.7 on X (I'm a mac user.)

Until the next update I think I'll stick to that.

What is the "bandwith monitor in the bottom left corner" ?

On my screen, on bottom left I see the # Counts for Hosts/Files/Available. I don't see a monitor indicating bandwidth. Am I missing something?

ad box

why did you put an ad box in 1.8? please remove it. if you choose not to remove it, then remove the playboy ad. my sister also uses this program and im sure she would be offended. :(

1.8

What a way to destroy an already good product. I have been using Lime wire for a long time and have shared 100's 0f files. I too hate the new Lime Wire 1.8 and went back to 1.7 and I will keep using it until they get it right again.

CyborStinger November 12th, 2001 07:06 PM

yeah 1.8 needs to get rid of the adds and all that **** that you try to install on our pc's! i liked the bandwidth too! features and performance are whats needed here, not adds, we see that **** enough all ready!

Re: v1.7 vs v1.8

Try looking in the "tools -> statistics" menu. You'll find more detailed realtime information about the network connection there. Just keep the second window/panel up at all times and it will also minimise when the many window is minimised as well.

Just to add.
Is it just me or does it seem like 1.8 runs slower on the Mac OS 10.1?

Unregistered November 14th, 2001 07:41 AM

BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!

It relly does not work without it

CyborStinger November 15th, 2001 07:37 PM

1.7 vs 1.8

Hate to say it but, 1.8 does lack in some serious areas... I have a feeling the ad's on the bottom of the screen are something LimeWire has to impliment in order to stay up and running so, I'm not even going to bother trying to argue that. It would be like trying to tell MTV to stop playing commericials between video's. But, the information that is missing since the banner has shown up is missed greatly. It would be nice if we could get a file/size count back in the bottom left hand corner of the application. I've found I can't find rare mp3's unless I have at least 12 TB's available to me so, that count really helped. Thanks for listening...

Spywarez and the performance hit.

Personnally I hate the idea of spyware - but I through a 6Gb drive in a system and loaded up a few of these monsters.

Those background processes and bandwidth usage add up.

Since Limewire is GPL - someone went in and did a sanitized version called Clean LimeWire - which is what I use currently.

you can try going to www.cleanlimewire.com

It will most likely redirect you - maybe to http://cleanlimewire.jaha.dk/index.html

Give it a shot.

that site is under construction

Why don't you whiners just spend the $8.50 and get the pro version that doesn't have any of the adware/spy crap in it. Cheap *******s.
