suggestion:freeloaders

As known there are a lot of freeloaders.I think that limewire sould have a filters set by the user that will totally stop freeloaders. The filters couls be by by the number of files and/or the total size of the files the uploaders shares.Don't you think it's a good idea?

Definitely not. Selfishness hardcoded into the software
actually drives away new users before they can get
comfortable and become contributors. The first few hours or
days are when people decide whether to stay or leave.

Gnutella is a sharing network, not a trading floor.

"Freeloaders" represent only 13% of the network right now
[down from above 30% over the past few years, by the
way], but those are the people who bring growth and new
files to the network. If we start finding excuses to exclude
some of the people some of the time just for numbers, we'll
inevitably end up with widespread cheating and billions of
junk files in our searches.

Also, don't forget the thousands of people who simply
cannot risk sharing yet. Someday they might get the chance.

Yeah - it also has a lot of people who never look in the |tools|options|uploads| area either!

well
1.the option you suggest is not in the uploads but in the preferencing (advanced)
2.it doesnt allows you to totally stop freeloaders
it says rarely(=some times)

My mistake - but it does allow you to type in a number files that have to be shared before you are not considered a freeloader. If you are really freaked by the thought someone might "steal" from you set it to a couple of hundred :D

Then sweat over your uploads list, every time someone had the audacity to try to get a file off you, search the IP address that shows up and then kill em if they dont have what you consider to be a reasonable "share portfolio"

Or you could just take it easy and share what you are comfortable with sharing, knowing you are doing the right thing by other users, and not get an ulcer over something you can not control.

it's not a good idea, I'n not a free loader, I have more than 1,ooo files to share and i Download a lot more of that. but when i started fresh, I was a freeloader. The same i picked from LW was thw same that i share in LW, then i realize that i have to look outside LW and bring some new material in.

How many of you realize that theres a lot of the same files, theres nothing new, no body is bringing nothing new in. THATS A FREELOADER. a person thats shares the same files he pick up in LW.
