The Ability to download multiple files with the same name In some other P2P programs, if you try to download 2 files that have duplicate names, it renames one of the files ( song.mp3 and 1-song.mp3 or something like that). I like how LW will tell you if it is the same content as a file you have already downloaded, but it's tough to have to rename multiple files if you are downloading several at once, or if a file witht hat name appears in your folder. |
Agree Would be very useful to have an auto-rename option for files with the same name but different hashes. I really find the "exact same file" warning useful, but want the others auto-renamed. |
What about a checkbox on the warning that says "append (#) to the filename" or somesuch. And an 'always append (#) instead of showing this warning...' option. ? |
Sounds good. . . especially the "always use this answer" part. Labelling the first checkbox "auto-rename?" might be simpler. (I'm assuming you mean for the same-name-different-hash files.) |
For files that exceed the OS system length, I'd suggest truncating from the middle of the filename. For an default auto append string, <(#)> before the extension seems to be the most common convention I've seen. |
Autorenaming before displaying the search results might be another alternative. I've seen many people who share multiple copies of a picture with the same name (different hash). Their OS handles it because the files are in nested folders, but it can be confusing when displayed in the flat unnested search/browse results |
