Since Browse Host doesn't always work

Maybe you're both behind a firewall... They like the White Stripes and so do you. You wonder what else this peer likes. Maybe you could get the same files from another peer. How can you find out what this firewalled user likes?

Limewire version 1.future creates a text index of all shared files, and names it "index[ip address].txt" and saves it topmost in the shared directory. Now when the Browse Host button fails (as is always the case on my mac) you can search for the index file of the host of interest.

Make sense?

one more thing...

I forgot to mention... I should have added that a better Limewire would write up that index EACH TIME you connect to the gnet. See, some of us have what's known as a STATIC I.P. My understanding is that this means my internet address changes everytime I log on. If Limewire can erase and re-create that index with each log-on, then peers would be searching for the index of the IP address they see on their screen, and in my shared folder the index would have the correct address tagged to it, and not an outdated one.

Also one could preference the index with contact info, such as email or instant message name.
