Music request page
 

Is there any reason why a page cannot be set for users to show songs /music that they don't have?
Legal reasons come to mind for one thing, but not a page set up to say what they want however, phrasing is always important. It may prompt other users to share certain things without direct requests.
It seems to me that Limewire is yet to get the coverage and user numbers that KaaZaa had but it's getting there. Some things I just can't find.

If people in this forum could figure out what the page really was, what makes you think the authorities couldn't find out?

Some stuff you just can't find, especially if it's not very popular. I use a torrent program to find things that aren't being shared within LW. Plus, there's nothing wrong with buying music...if nobody supports the artists, they won't be motivated to create new music.

Also, do what you can to share music that's hard to find. Encourage others to do the same.

Good call Dano and I take your points.
I do buy music when appropriate and that is fair enough. The things that I want though are often from artists that are dead or out of the business. In some cases that rights to the songs are by owned by someone other than the artist. So I don't get too wound up over whether they will keep knocking out more music.
In some cases one song off an album is all that is wanted and it seems silly to buy an album for one song record it then throw the album away.
If torrent programs are the way then let me know some useful ones that would be a help.
It sort of defeats the purpose for Limewire though, and if Limewire can't do the job then maybe it should scrapped, I don't think that is going to happen most people are quite happy with the program.
What's more contibutors to Limewire are a sharing bunch and they will do so if they have an opportunity, such as a request page. It is not always possible to have every bit of music you own on access file. So a request page would help.
