bndwdth share feature? Hi there; this is my first post on this forum. 8)My comment is a limewire annoyance that I think should be changed if possible.I have the free limewire package and a very slow internet connection - free dialup that usually maxes out at 3 kps but sometimes only manages 1 or 2. I can dl a typical mp3 in an hour or two.Now that I've built up a respectable little library of files, I get uploaded from a lot. The thing is, when I have a dl in progress, the bandwidth is never shared very equally at all. The upload ALWAYS squashes my download by taking up all of my small bandwidth, and there's always another upload afterward. Downloading is becoming impossible. What I want to suggest is that limewire try to write in a line of code or whatever to try securing a minimum amount/fraction of available bandwidth for a host, even something as small as 1 kps. It would make a big difference for low-end users. Are suggestions here somehow fwd'd to limewire itself?Cheers,Mark |
Electropath, You could always stop sharing while downloading. Then when your finished start sharing again. If I'm downloading several AVI files at the same time I don't share while I'm downloading. Go to Tools > Options > Uploads > Slots set to 0. Just a suggestion |
Electropath Remoc is absolutely right, there are controls within LW that enables you to minimise uploads and maximise downloads all you have to do is use those controls UK Bob. |
1 Attachment(s) Electropath Sorry, forgot to add the upload screen. UK Bob |
Thanks UK Bob, Nice Addition. :D |
thx Thanks folks. :xeri_ok1ani: I had in fact unchecked a sharing box in that menu, but I later realized it was for folders other than the Shared folder, which explains why it didn't make a difference at the time. :tease: I'm on top of it now. Though I'm still not sure why the bandwidth split was so unequal... everyone else can spare more than my superslow connxn can. |
