option to remove 'getting started' screen when limewire starts

Is there any chance of providing a 'don't show this again' box on the 'getting started' box? Its probably useful to people the first time they use limewire, but it gets really tired after you've started the client like 100 times - you get sick of clicking on it every single time. Thanks

Sure
There should be a little box you can untick in the tip box that says
"Show Tips at Startup". Untick that box and you won't see the tips.

You can set popups to the default setting by going to
Tools>Options>View>Popups, and reset them from there.

Hope This Helps:idea:

Hi Xcom46

thanks very much for your reply.

Its not the 'tip of the day' thats giving me grief. its the

GETTING STARTED
To start using LimeWire, find the text field on the left, type in what you are looking for and click the "Search" button. If you are looking for only one type of content (music, video, etc...), you can narrow your search results by using the buttons above the text field.

(I Did, by the way, follow your advice and checked the box, but this still comes up)

Am I missing something?

Sorry if I misunderstood your instructions...

Jim

If Clicking the Little X is a Huge Problem for you, then it might be just as well that you found something else. How Imature.

etheesdad February 1st, 2008 07:05 PM

actually remoc its an indication of bad design.

good software eliminates the need for user to engage in needless tasks.

Poor design requires the user perform unnecessary tasks, wasting time and affecting productivity. This is a rule of thumb and if you knew anything about software development you would understand this.

My comment is both fair and reasonable, regardless of my own personal software preferences. By making posts about the quality of the software the developers are aided in improving it. This was the point of the post. the fact that Ive changed to something else is also a clue to them that there's something to be addressed.

The fact that you have a need to label other people based on what software they use is, frankly, astounding.

Ill assume, then that you have never changed software because of an annoyance? That would be pretty amazing and would put you in a very rare, perhaps non-existent category of user!

So you go on using software you don't like. I don't see how this relates to maturity but Im not here to debate psychology and Im definitely not here to insult people.

My intensions were'nt to insult at all and I use a variaty of software. I just don't understand how that promt is really that big a deal. By the time Limewire gets through loading and connecting, clicking the X is no problem at all. I agree with you that it does get old seeing it pop up every time you open LW, but there is a few seconds if not a couple of minutes that you can't do anything anyway. You have to admit, it takes a short while before it connects. Sorry for the imaturity comment, just don't think that much time is lost by clicking the X.
As Far as Quality Software goes, we are talking P2P Here, Not Photoshop
