Filtering Adult Content

Hello everyone. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I do love my Limewire. I have five children and my oldest is really getting into downloading and exploring on the comupter. I am completely dismayed by the poorly fashioned attempts at keeping adult content away from children. I know I can filter by keyword, but I can't possibly think of every key word that will bring something up. I also don't know the name of every porn star or girl/boy next door who has an "adult" picture out there. The only options are to block it once I see it. I'd rather not see it at all. I am very careful to monitor what my children do on the computer, but as they get older, it gets impossible to look over their shoulders every minute of every day. I would like to see a more proactive approach by limewire to keep this content from children. Some sort of parental controls with requiring a password to access video and image files, or a report showing all searches done. Surely there is something we can do to make Limewire a little more safe for kids and the rest of us who don't want to see that kind of content either.

Why does a Child need lime Wire? It is an easy Gambling and adult site. There are many programs to buy if you really want to protect them.

odvisusly you dont know much about computers the searchs are already logged on your computer

Select search

click the search field

press the down arrow and BOOM

you should consider P2P to be an adult program anyway seeing as how most things on limewire is ILLEGAL so if you dont mind your kids breaking the laws why would you care if they looked at porn?

Filtering Adult Content

I had intended to post a message similar to Sabothell's but find instead that I have to come to his defense. To Mokicruz, if Limewire is such a bad place to be then why are you even here?To Biohaze, to return your own rudeness, obviously you dont know that everybody has different strengths and weaknesses. Since this is the case dont be a jerk about it, and pretend that you dont have any weaknesses. Yes you might have better computer skills but perhaps this guy can drive, ski, or skate circles around you. Who knows, maybe his net worth is 100x yours because he designed a killer app that required a different computer skill set, ie one that had nothing to do with content filtering. The short version guys is that you could have simply tried to answer his, or her - now that i come to think of it, question instead of attacking motives for using Limewire or skills. And now to business. My question is a little more specific than Sabothell's as it deals with only search 2 results. I would like to know if Limewire can remove them. It seems that no mather what I type into a search line I always get my search text followed by either "sexy girl has shaking orgasm during sex", "chick teaches another girl how to fist her ( very hot )" or sometimes both. Yes Biohaze I know I can filter the result. The other question I have is on more of a technical nature which might have already been resolved with the recent updates ( I just havent bothered to upgrade from 4.12 yet ). I frequently monitor the perfomance tab in Windows task manager and find that Limewire uses huge amounts of memory. Sometimes when I shut down Limewire completly I find that 15+ MB of system memory and 60+ MB of pagefile are being released and this is after downloads have completed. I have also noticed that when Limewire loads pagefile usage goes way up, not to 60 MB but far more than the size of the program, and even with drawing on Windows .dll its higher than I would expect or like

Go ahead and upgrade you will then have an adult content filter on your options and i can download 4-5 files and only take up about 56mb of memory if you think this is alot of memory.

My normal internet surfing sessions take up 100 times that earlier today had 700+ mb being used by firefox. If your really worried about memory useage raise your virtual memory even higher.

Hey mom, I downloaded EDIT =>=<*=+->=<= Hey mom, I downloaded EDIT

Balancing the why do you care scale.

It's not a huge concern it's just something I would rather not have to see. I've never been a hard core programmer but when I first started in high school we were expected to produce steak on a thimblefull of memory and now it's ok to produce hot dogs with a barrelfull

Hey Fly, Just want to jump in here if you don't mind. I would strongly disagree with upgrading to the Later Versions of LW. They seem to be really Buggy. The 4.12.xx Versions are probably the Best and Most Stable ever.
On to Filtering....

What I have done that works really well is to go to Tools > Options > Filter > Keywords and then add these file extensions: .wma, .exe, .rar, .html, .com, .zip, .mov. Be sure to tick apply and O.K. There are a ton of fake and corrupt files with these extensions. I will only download mp3 files that are larger than 2000kb - 3000kb. Also make sure thay have a bitrate.

Here is more good advise given by (Sleepless)

The Keyword Filter

Add .wma to the keyword filter along with words like Sponsored, Unlimited, Afford and any other specific words that keep popping up in your results.

Yeah remoc I mind a lot:

I've always disliked getting useful info, LOL. Seriously though thanks. I've already loaded the filter with as many adult and offensive word I can think of and I'll be adding the extensions you suggested shortly

Hey Remoc:

Do you know if there is any talk of filtering by minimum set file size in the works, from what I've had pop up and what you wrote earlier this would be a nice feature to have
