Default Optimize

Limewire needs to be optimized. It make my whole computer run slow. I can not run other applications, they stall out.

The engineers need to design Limewire to only use 25% or less of total ram on machine.

hmm how old is your computers? I have no such problem on my laptop mine rarely goes above 15%

And my total CPU usage rarely goes over 50% and i am also running TWO artifical life simulators with over 10k scripts and 30 creatures in each so it sounds like you might want to upgrade your systems unless you want to be stuck in the past. I for one wouldnt wont limewire to slow down any slower than it already runs i would be even happier if it was faster.

O ya i also have 4 firefox broweser running each with at least 5 tabs also have 3 editing programs running i am downloading 6 files at a time.

Plus my firefox is takeing up 10x more memory than limewire 624mb vs 59mb

so maybe its just the computer ur running limewire on? There is a thing called virtual memory use that i have 1gb of ram and 10gb of virtual ram. I multi-task A LOT and always have simulations and tons of scripts running all day with no hiccups or slow downs

10GB of virtual ram...wow...the recommended setting for best performance is a STATIC 1.5xram..so for you that would be 1.5GB....

the above user do probably have other issues, though the latest version of LW is reputed to be hosed...

O ya the above users probally should really be worried about their CPU usage if their computers are really slowing down i have a 1ghz dual core about to go 1ghz quad but would really want to find out how to get over about 1ghz 20 core but i think you have to have a cluster never seen a comp with 20 processors.

make sure to do some reading on quads....as of my last researching they were slower than duos as software is not yet up to using quads effectively....

these days for 500 bucks, you can get a dual core 3ghz, with 3gb of ram for about 500 bucks. and you can find discount refurbished (was returned for a defect; ie, hard disk failed and was replaced, but system is otherwise new) systems for like $250.

now if the original poster is actually using a modern computer (2ghz+, 512mb ram+), i'd suggest checking for viruses and spyware.

also make sure other systems are fully updated. java especially, a number of versions back had a major bug in it that did something like you described, and until java was patched, i was starting to worry if i might have to ditch limewire. java patched, limewire didn't change, and suddenly it was all back to good.
