Unsharing files without unlisting them

When sharing it allows you to share folders, sub-folders, and files. When unsharing only able to unshare folder, thus unlisting it entirely from the library. You can individually open each folder and unshare files this way keeping the folder listed in the library, (lot of work with large quantity of files) But A nice feature would being able to unshare files however selected and still see the folders listed in the shared file column. (My preference because I like the way the limewire library is set-up.) I could leave them shared always to solve this, but seems like the request may be simply done? If could be done I would be more apt to share more files, knowing at my desire I could easily unshare them with a lot less work!

hello mattsters2 if you dont want to share any files go into tools press the uploads section and go to slots change this to zero and also number of people allowed to upload to zero then with the bandwith indicator move it across to the left with your mouse when you have done this press the apply button then exit limewire restart limewire and even though your files say shared nobody will be able to upload from you even though lw is a file sharing program

Seems like not sharing any files defeats the purpose of a file-sharing network.

mattsters2 could copy LW's library setup to another directory.

The easiest way to stop Sharing your files without messing with the LW Library, is to click the Library tab.
Now Left Click on First File and hold down while Dragging the mouse down. This should Highlight the Files as you Drag.
Once the Files are all highlighted, Right Click and a small pop up screen will appear. Click "Stop Sharing File". The Unshared files will turn Red.
You will still be able to play the files even though they are not shared.

Hey Ironhorse, Firstly, Thanks for your help here on the Forums.
As Far as Sharing goes, Everyone has a reason they either Share or don't Share. Personally I don't use LW but my son does. Do I let him share Ummm....I use Torrents and yes I Seed and have a Ratio well over 2.5 so as you can imagine it's really up to the Individual and how secure they feel being a Pirate. Arrgh Matey :pirate: LOL

Try this. Go to Start > Search > All Files/Folders. Now type in a Audio File that you know you have and click Search. This will give you the Path that you will Put into LW.

You'll need to Point LW to the Path of your shared/saved folder. Mine for instance is L:\Shared.
Go to Tools > Options > Saving. Now, type in the path where it says... "Choose Folder for Saving Files" Apply > OK

Hope this Helps.

Figured it out later that morning, Went to search, view my shared files, then can select as many files as I want, right click, stop sharing. Still listed the folder. My preference is to share the most current files, or good classic, or the smaller pdf 's. I usually monitor the amount of uploads of all files and share the popular one's. The zero one's I'll usually quit sharing. Mattsters2

I Share around 9,000 files at present. Due to the way the gnutella network works with (mindblock, can't think of right word) *edit= 'swarm', it means some days I get mostly video uploads, some days mostly audio uploads, some days a particular artist, etc. It can really vary, so don't judge upload popularity on just a few sessions, but over a long period of time. I share both popular & rarer files. After all, if nobody or less people shared the rarer files then they'd be impossible to obtain or more difficult to get. This upload behaviour is also true with many less shares btw.
