As a thought, it would not be a bad idea to call the user's anti-virus program to deal with the flood of booby trapped files flooding P2P and other areas such as News Groups etc.
By scanning the shared folder, this would cut down significantly on the number of Trojans etc in circulation. |

Nice suggestion, but not all Anti virus programs can detect all viruses on the gnutella network. Some AV's find & remove some, others find & remove others, and some find but cannot remove. There's 'other' options to AV's also such as anti-spyware programs, etc. It's interesting some of the AV programs that do work on the Gnutella network viruses are free whereas some of those that cannot remove or perhaps not even detect them are commercial AV programs.

Well by adding some code to Lime would go a long way to cleaning up crap out there at present.
Eventually with such code, malware would be hard to spread and make these dirt bags go straight to hell where they belong. http://free.avg.com Last edited by Vegan; November 3rd, 2008 at 08:46 AM. |
