Force local IP to what?

I am getting nowhere with my searches. I have used extremely popular search keywords that should return somethins (I.e. "the", "Pearl Jam", "Metallica". In the FAQ it mentions using the Force local IP of you use Internet Connection Sharing. I use this and the computer on which I run newtella and it is the host for the ICS. Should i use this field?
