Optimized/faster/less laggy versions of limewire?

I can't remember where I was reading but somebody said something about one or more of these split off versions of limewire being a little better optimized and they were complaining about regular limewire beign "laggy" - I'm noticing this too even with 450mhz... Which versions are better in this department?

Yeah, the version at http://www.freewirep2p.com seems to run much smoother on my system.

I think they changed some of the optimization IIRC.

Freewire is just LimeWire + some minor changes to the GUI + SHOW_ADS set to false in GUIMediator.java.

They didn't make a single change to the underlying core. I doubt FreeWire will have ANY advantage over LimeWire, except that you cost LimeWire money from advertisement-revenues by using it.

Since LimeWire is GPL'd it's completely legal to create a fork and it's your decision whether to use it or not.
