Spurious .htm & html search results

When searching, I've recently started to get spurious .htm & .html files in the search results.

There are usually two entries as follows:

5 "Search query" (5) htm 1K
5 "Search query" (5) html 1K

1: Does anyone know where they come from?

I accidentally double clicked one (Swich bounce) and it seems to be a link to eBay, but don't know.

That's why I filter out html results by default. Unless you want html pages, it kills some of that spam pretty effectively. Tools Menu, Options, Filters, Keywords and check off 'ignore .htm/.html Files.'

You prolly already knew that though.

I forgot about the option to filter out various file types. I shall do that immediately.

yes, it is. It takes up valuable bandwidth on the network. We can block it on our machines, but I sure wish the source of it would shrivel up and die

That, and the %^&* 1K mpeg files. Blocking the IP made them go away, but I'd still like to know what that was all about.

Blocking IP addresses is OK, but what if it is a dynamically allocated address as many Dial-Ups are?

Some poor innocent ends up blocked through no fault of their own!!

I have a new one (to me at least) for you. Format is as follows:

'Search string' exe 7,826KB T1

Guess it must be something nasty, 'cos the search string never matches perfectly!!!!
