Question about the source available through CVS Is it no longer hte pro source? I knwo when I got 2.3.3 a couple weeks ago it was pro source. Now it doesn't say pro in the about field anymore it just says 2.4.0r Seems to have the file resume bug fixed but some of the options in preferences seem to be missing, like being able to set available upload slots and how much upload bandwidth to be used... |
I have no idea why they changed the version number to 2.4.0r instead of 2.4.0pro, - but I don't think it means very much. As for the options, you are missing, - they're still in the code, and I have already seen and used them in 2.4.0r. I had a couple of lock ups with the cvs code, which usually occur after running limewire for 6-12 hours. Seen anything like that on your computer with 2.4.0r, yet? |
No I just updated though cause acqualime runs slow as dirt for me and I wanted file resume capability back. I never could get (was it your fix?) to work on the old code. My upload supcatagory in the options didn't collapse when I clicked on it I guess, I finally found the options. No problems yet though except that every time I run it says there is a new version 2.3.3 I should upgrade to (that's really not new though) - anyway to turn that off? |
Version check I blocked the version check by setting my firewall to block the java executable being able to connect to version.limewire.com (64.61.**.***) which is the same IP as Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « |
I turned off the upgrade check in the code. In Initializer.java comment out the line um.doUpdate(); ie, change um.doUpdate(); to //um.doUpdate(); and no more update. 2.4.0 does fix the resuming, but it uses obscene amounts of RAM, about twice as much as 2.3.4 Anyone else noticed anything similar? |

admittedly, aqualime is slower than limewire. But it is evel slower still with java 1.4.0 You would notice a nice speed boost if you used java 1.3.1 with aqualime instead. (This is due to skinLF not yet being optimized for java 1.4.0. That should happen relatively soon) That still may not make it fast enough for you though, in which case, I sympathize :) ****EDIT**** That thing about 2.4.0 using more RAM was due to a mistake on my part. Having fixed that, I can't think of a reason not to use 2.4.0 compared to 2.3.? |
