viruses?

are there virus risks in downloading programs, music, etc from limewire?

Programs maybe... I haven't heard of any MP3 viruses yet. There are also some video formats (.ASF files for instance) that allow embedded URLs that could redirect the viewer to a website containing some malicious scripts.

This is just my advice, but if you wish to download programs from the Gnutella network, you'd probably best install a good anti-virus package first.

Music (MP3): No Risk. MP3's cannot be infected, since they are decoded, not executed.
Programs: High Risk. Try to not use P2P for program downloads, as they are often Virus or XXX filled. Just my experience . . .
