blah -full-downloader

Just finished a move, so I've got my computer back up and running for the first time in about 30 days - new install of SuSE8 - finally got the latest LW running... Never noticed these "[program name] -full-downloader" files until now. They range from about 60k'ish to about 160k'ish, and they seem to contain some executable aconti.exe and some links to pr0n'ish type websites. I've deleted the folder these were in, and as I'm typing this just got the popup: "Cannot gather information about dial-up entries. Install dial up networking blahblahblah..." so obviously it installed other funky ****, as I figured (this is installed in win4lin/win98). Does anyone have more information on this crap (what it is, how to get rid of it, etc) before I blow this 'windows' install and reinstall it...?

Thanks Much!

They install a lot of "we need money" software! ;)

Clean your harddisk with ad-aware:

You should check out clean Limwire or Agualime, both ere without any ads and based on the Limewire source!

Or buy the PRO version for $9.50!

You can also compile your own version... :p

-full-downloader files

Nooooo. It's not LW (I bought it a while back), it's a file that I've downloaded, and that I'm starting to see return on searches as of late. Files that end with '-full-downloader'... I can't seem to find too much info on the crap it installed (I was nervous about unzipping/installing but was curious as to what it was...). Just wanted to see what kind of crap it installed (I think I removed all of it) before I considered my self safe. Like I said, it's not gonna be a big deal to replace win4lin's ~/win folder, I have a backup... Just don't wanna if I don't hafta =)

try using start->run->msconfig -->startup tab. see if there's anything funky happening in there, as lots of useless software likes to hang out here and run with windows. If u don't have Win98/ME/XP, google should find you the file, or use a program called StartEd from Outertech (same thing).
