Why does everything have to concern money ?

A while ago I received an offer to remove spyware out of P2P programs and I would get paid for it .

I declined the offer for several reasons :
1 - it's a hobby for me , I don't need to get paid .
2 - If they pay me I have to follow their rules , wich I don't want to .

My parents know that I got such an offer .
Now everyday at the dinner table I get into a big fight with them .
They think that nothing comes for free and I should not continue Clean LimeWire without getting paid by somebody .

I disagree ...
If everybody would think like this the concept "freeware" would not exist .
Heck , 9/10 of the programs on my computer are freeware .
And I think this is also true for most people .

How the hell do I calm this situation down ?
BTW : Anybody wanna swap parents ?
