java 1.4.1 HELP PLEASE?

I was wondering why Java 1.4.1 won't work w/ the limewire 2.4.4 version. When I download it, it keeps saying that it doesn't detect the Java 1.3.1 version. It is just not updated?

Please help, I'm a novice when it comes to computer technical stuff. Do I have to change the proxy settings?

As far as I can tell, the recommendation to download the latest Java JRE (1.4.1 at this point) was written while 1.3.1 was still the latest version. The limewire installer should install 1.3.1 for you during installation.

Maybe a lurking LimeWire rep can answer this question definitively. Or, maybe it's in the FAQ...

There's a way to forge some registry values so the 1.3 registry key points to the 1.4 directory. I'm using Linux at the moment, so I can't go into the registry editor (regedit.exe in \Windows) and paste in the path to the key. I think it's under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft. You copy the keys and values under the 1.4 branch to 1.3.1 and it makes the installer happy. Maybe someone else who has done it can help you more.
