How do I interpret data in the Connections tab?
 

If this is covered in a FAQ somewhere please tell me.

Can anyone explain "Messages (I/O)," "Bandwidth (I/O)," and "Dropped (I/O)?"

I want to know when to "remove" a bad host. I'm on DSL (1.3mb down). What numbers should I be getting? Are these numbers accurate?

LimeWire is removing bad hosts automatically.

um, can't anyone do better than that?

There's not much to explain about the numbers in the connections view. You see the number of messages routed through the connections (in and out), the bandwidth usage and the percentage of dropped messages.

You cannot interpret that data without at least basic knowledge of how gnutella works. - Many routed messages can mean that a the remote host is very well connected but it can also mean, that it is connected to clients spamming the network with requeries. The bandwidth usage is usually proportional to the number of messages routed and the percentage of dropped messages is hard to explain if you don't know how messages are routed and what messages are filtered by LimeWire.

Ok thanks guys, I think I have a better idea of how much I don't know about gnutella :)

I may start looking through that Moak post for some more education.
