app/OS compatibilty Anyone know if there is any way to determine what OS an app is for if it is not explicitly stated in the name/decsription of the file? Or..does LW filter searches based on what OS it (Lime Wire) is installed for? Couldn't find any way to determine/filter it in the options menu.... |
Here are the most common suffixes you'll come accross with a description of their file type. .zip , .exe = Windows application .sit , .dmg , .img = Mac application .mov = Quicktime video file (any platform with QT or QT codec installed) .mpg = video file (any OS with video player and .mpg codec) .wmv .asf = WindowsMedia Player video file (any OS with WMP or WMP codec) .mp3=audio file (any OS with mp3 player) .ram = Real Player video file (any OS with RP or RP codec installed) .jpg=Photo (any OS with picture viewer) .txt= text file (any OS with text viewer) Limewire does have filters which allow you to distinguish between apps , videos, pics or audio (the radio buttons in the bottom left part of the search window) but it doesn't separate apps by OS, so you'll have to go by the suffixes. |
