Hi there,

I have no idea whether this is the right place for my question. I am not at
all experienced with the Gnutella stuff, but very interested in the
distributed aspects of the project.

a) Does anybody know the present topolgy (or the topology at a former point
of time) of the Gnutella network? Does anywhere exist a map which shows
nodes (anonymously) and edjes?

b) How can the Gnutella net consist of more than 200000 nodes, when the
degree of a node is restricted to 10000 or so, but when at the same time a
new client gets a boundle of links when connecting to the network? Or are
the peer-to-peer links uni-directional?

I didnt understand the second question but I can answer you the first:
Its hard to map the entire gnutella network because there's no central point where all nodes report to, but there's a mapping project launched by Gnucleus. On their homepage you can see some grafix (maps) of the P2P net:
