spy are installed when downloainf lime wire?

When I installed limeware any website I go to with certain phrases have 'text to links'. For instance, on my site ( a web development and hosting site ) everywhere it says 'web development or similar, it becomes a link to and 'alt' style popup text about another company that does the same thing. I understand that they have to support themselves via ads, but molesting every page I want to see with links to competitors? Isn't that a bit much? Any way to disable that bit? I tried the free version to see how I liked it and it worked great I was just about to buy it when this all came up. Now I question what other intrusions I may encounter. Simple solution - lose the irritatiingstuff from th free version and make the free version have not as many features, And sell the version without any ads or content raping for 19.95. I'd pay that for this program provided I knew that all it did was what the program screen le you do and there was no underhanded marketing going on behind the scenes. Any thoughts or ideas?

Hello!

The fact that LimeWire since the 1.8X version comes with SpyWare and AdWare(For Macintosh version only AdWare) in the free basic version is not anything new.The SpyWare and AdWare included are Cydoor,Topmoxie,Etraffic and you also have the possibility to deselect the following during installation:Limeshop,Bonzai Buddy(watch out for this one a talking monkey it is a real monster that installs a Trojan on your system so please do not select it).

Still I am a bit confused none of the SpyWare and Adware should make yuor computer behave the way yours does. Are you sure that you have not downloaded any other client recently?.I have not encountered anyone before that have suffered from the issue you describes after installing LW.

I totally dissagree with that the Free version should be limited in any way it should have all the functions of the PRO version. The reason is because it is important for the functionallity of Gnutella that there is no inferior clients running around. It would be like realesing a Limited version of the web browser Internet Explorer and I do not think that you would like that. The reason you should buy the PRO version is to get rid of the bundled software and also support the developers and speed up the development of Gnutella and support FileSharing. That is reason enough to buy the PRO version there is no need to make the free basic version have any short comings.

If you would like to remove the spyware you could always download the Adaware from Lavasoft which will get rid of them for you http://www.lavasoft.com

But you should not remove the Adware because it could make LW non functioning.

Another option is to download one of the hacked versions of LW like the Aqualime which does not have any Bundled software.

After this you might think that I disslike LW but I do not you can always deselect the Bonzi Buddy which is the only one that are dangerous to your system.LimeWire is still the best client and still the only one available for us Mac Users. And also it got a great underground GUI!.

Go to http://www.limewire.com/index.jsp/download_other and get LimeWireWinNoVM.zip .
it's LimeWire Basic but with no spyware or adware .
It even has no installer wich means you have to make shortcuts yourself .
