Playing MP3's

When I download from lime wire I can not play the mp3's. My other mp3's play fine with Realplayer and Windows media player. I noticed that the files I download from lime eire bplay at 80K bits per second and all I hear is bleep and bluurs with no sound. I go back and play the other mp3's I have downloader or received from other sources and they play fine.

Any ideas?

There are some files out there that spoof real files... they are suspected to be part of the music industry's effort to make P2P sharing of copyrighted material less enjoyable. You might want to set a filter on the IP of the host you received those files from.

I assume you are referencing the same files.... I am using Limewire on Windows 2000 and have no such problem... there is no reason to suspect Limewire that I can think of...

Still Confused

I took you email figuring that it ws just bad files so I downloaded 8 more files and I could not hear any of them. My feeling is that my Real Player and Windows Media Player are playing it to slow. I went back in the option to make sure that they were set to play mp3's and they are. Went back again and played some of my other mp3's and they worked fine.

Is it possible for me to download 8 songs and all of these could be spoof files? I do I increase my odd's if that is the case?

While I am sure it is possible it is unlikely... unless you are downloading a given artist's latest album, for example, and the files are coming from the same source. The MP3's that play OK... are they files you created yourself or did they come from some other P2P source? To me the bleeps and blurs is the clue to them being spoof files as I have encountered the same thing, only not with the same frequency as you.
